Blood Flow

Increased blood flow has been shown in many studies (going back as far as the 1940’s to the present day) from the application of RF:

  • Siems, Kosman, 1948
  • Kottke et al. 1949
  • Grynbaum, Megibow , Bierman 1950
  • Richardson 1954
  • Schlink & Rost  1954
  • Abramson, Harris, Beaconsfield  1957
  • Erdman 1960
  • Millard 1961
  • Morrissey 1966
  • Silverman & Pendleton 1968
  • Downey, Frewin, Whelan1970
  • Wessman 1971
  • Hovind & Nielsen 1973
  • Hovind & Nielsen 1974
  • Pages 1993
  • Karasuno et al. 2005
  • Sousa et al. 2017

Kumaran (2017) looked at deep blood flow using doplar and found significant increases with Tecarpuls use. Below are the doplar images:

 Before treatment

After Treatment

As can be seen there is a significant increase in deep blood flow. Below is the chart indicating the change:

As can be seen RF, both high and low, increased deep blood flow compared to placebo. Although the control group increased this was not significant and within the margin for error. Interestingly pulsed shortwave group blood flow decreased (this could be related to the faster recovery of tissue temperature from this treatment).
